Clay Firefighters Local 1630 and The Michiana Fraternal Order of Leatherheads Society (F.O.O.L.S) are hosting the 10th Annual Lt. Jon Kimm Memorial Battle of the Badges.  This bowling event will be held at Chippewa Bowl in South Bend on Saturday, March 26th at 4:00 pm.  Space is limited.  The cost is $20 per person or $25 at the door.  The money raised during this bowling event will go to The Youth Service Bureau of St. Joseph County (YSB).  The funds raised would support the Youth Service Bureau's work of helping young people and their families to resolve their problems, realize their strengths, and rebuild their lives. Your financial support will help us continue our mission of reaching out to kids in crisis, protecting children at risk, and preserving and strengthening families.

2009 was a very successful event with over 250 people in attendance and collecting over $7,600.  In the 9 years of this event we have collected almost $47,000 to help families and children in the community and around the US.  During the bowling event we will hold raffles to help raise money for The Youth Service Bureau of St. Joseph County.  We are currently accepting items to raffle off.  Clay Firefighters Local 1630 is a non-for-profit organization and any donation to this event is tax-deductible.  The web site for the event: www.clayfd.com/battle

This event was started by the late Lt. Jon Kimm after 9-11-01.  German Township Fire (now Clay Fire) lost Jon from cancer one month after the 2004’s event.  Jon was dedicated to his children and the children of our community. In 2002, Jon started the Battle of Badges to raise money for the fire and police departments in New York after they gave their lives after 9/11.  Over the 9 years of this event, all the money has stayed locally to the following organizations: Fallen Firefighter memorial at the Michiana Regional Airport, Jon Kimm’s family, Mishawaka Police Department, Great Lakes Burn Camp, Camp Mill House, S-O-S at Madison Center, The Sonya Ansari Center for Autism and MDA & the Logan Center of South Bend.  Please help us continue this great event for another 10 years!
