Station 21

History
  • When the Clay Township Fire Department was started in 1948, they housed the vehicles at the high school.
  • In 1949 the school corporation informed Clay Township that they would no longer be able to house apparatus in the school. A station was built that year at 18776 Cleveland Road.
  • The station was used until 2001 when a new station was built.
  • In 2013 the firehouse was renamed to Station 21. 
Service Area
Located at 18776 Cleveland Road, Clay Station 21 covers approximately 12 square miles, including 4 miles of the I-80/90 of the Indiana Toll Road. The response area for this district is from the St. Joesph River to the West; Gumwood Road to the East; Darden Road to the North; and the University of Notre Dame to the South.

This facility can accommodate up to (14) 24-hour firefighters, 6 apparatus bays  and houses the following:

  • Battalion 2
  • Squad 21

  • Brush 21
